Pygmy Date Palm



Pygmy Date Palm (Phoenix Roebelenii):

As the name implies, this popular dwarf evergreen palm features soft leaves and is small enough to keep in a container or be used in smaller landscaping areas. The trunk is slender with decorative protuberances, but when planted in clusters they can take on elegant curved trunks to resemble a multi-trunked palm.

Watering Needs:

Requires regular watering

Average Landscape Size:

Slow growth with an average height of 10-12 feet (can be larger in an ideal tropical climate or smaller if potted)

Key Features:

Compact, soft appearance, tolerates light frost, great focal point

Blooms:

Cream-colored blooms in the spring followed by red fruit in summer (edible but mainly consists of a pit)
